Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do we book a reservation?
We do not use third-party booking agencies. To book your reservation, please email us or send a message through our website. We handle all bookings personally to ensure the best customer service experience. To complete your reservation, please provide the name under which you’d like it held, your email, phone number, and the number of people in your group. We will then send you an invoice via Square for payment at your earliest convenience to finalize and secure your reservation. Please note that the reservation must be paid within 48 hours of receiving the invoice, or your spot will be forfeited and reopened for booking by others. Additionally, $10 of your reservation is non-refundable to cover the time and resources spent on booking rides. Reservations are refundable with a 48-hour cancellation notice or if we must cancel due to inclement weather or animal illness/injury.
  • Can we book a ride any day and time we want?
We do not book Christmas Lights tours on just any day. We have specific dates and times set aside for these tours to ensure that we can accommodate our other events and commitments, while also prioritizing the well-being of our horses. We carefully schedule these tours to prevent overworking the horses, keeping them in top condition and ensuring they continue to love their jobs. If you have a special event you would like to book, please reach out to us directly to inquire about our availability and pricing. We’d be happy to discuss options and find the best solution for your needs!
  • Do the horses like their job?
Absolutely! We use draft horses, which are specifically bred to be work horses, and they truly enjoy their jobs. These horses have a natural inclination to work, and we ensure they are well-treated, comfortable, and happy in their roles. We schedule regular breaks, maintain their health, and provide positive reinforcement, allowing them to enjoy their work while staying in top condition. Our horses thrive on the attention and interaction they receive during tours and events, and we’re committed to keeping them happy, healthy, and engaged in their work.
  • Can we give the horses a treat?
While we understand the desire to treat our horses, we do not allow treats during work time. This is because the bits in their mouths can make it uncomfortable for them, and giving treats while working can create bad habits. However, you are welcome to bring treats for us to feed them after the tour is over. We always give them horse cookies as a reward at the end of the day! Some treats we can offer include horse cookies, carrots, and apples. Your thoughtful gesture is appreciated, and we’ll make sure they get their special treats when their work is done!
  • Do the carriage rides go down College Avenue to view the lights?
We do NOT offer carriage rides down College Avenue due to the heavy traffic and increased risks associated with it. Over the years, the volume of vehicles, including semis and cruising traffic, has made the route unsafe and less enjoyable for our guests. For your safety and comfort, we’ve selected a quieter, more peaceful route that still allows you to experience the beauty of Fort Collins' holiday lights. This ensures a safer and more pleasant ride for everyone involved.
